The founders of Backgrounder had family members and previous clients getting scammed and wanted to take a different approach. One particular family member almost lost an exorbitant amount of money from a tech support scam, all from not being able to quickly verify that the phone number used was fraudulent. Further, the "bank official" on the other end of the call was also fake.
